This year, Tempus turns ten. As we reflect on a decade in this business, one thing has remained constant from our very first deal to the most recent acquisition we completed — and every one that follows. The general partners of Tempus have invested our own capital alongside our investors in every opportunity we have brought to market. It is one of the pillars that sets us apart, but more than that, it is simply how we built this company. We believed then, and believe now, that true partnership means having a real stake in the outcome.
Ten years has only deepened that conviction. Our investors are at the center of every decision we make. Over ten years, that has never been just a philosophy. It has been the way we do business. When we evaluate an acquisition, we are asking whether it is strong enough for the investors who are trusting us, and we are right there alongside them. That mindset has shaped every conversation we have had internally over the last decade and is something we want every investor to experience firsthand.
It shows up in the deals we pass on as much as the ones we pursue. Over the last ten years, Isaac Smith has led all of our acquisitions and dispositions. There have been countless times when we have walked away from an opportunity because the underlying risk did not justify the return we would need to deliver for our investors. This is why we physically walk every asset we seriously consider buying, and we don’t move forward unless all Tempus general partners unanimously agree. Doing right by the people who have trusted us will always come before closing a deal.
Our commitment extends to Evergreen, where all our general partners are significantly invested alongside our investors, because we believe in it the same way we are asking them to. That shared commitment is a story we are proud to tell. Many of our investor relationships have spanned the entire decade, and that continuity is something we do not take for granted.
As we celebrate ten years, we are most grateful for the trust our investors have extended to us, year after year. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is the foundation for every relationship we have built over the last decade.
